Introducing The Murlough Collection
Welcome the essence of the scenic Northern Irish coastline into your kitchen with the help of our Murlough collection, the first of our new collections, brought to life by textile designer Jennie.
Taking its inspiration from the rolling sand dunes and wild grasses of Murlough Bay, our Murlough Collection offers a fresh twist on traditional stripes and checks.
Featuring a selection of kitchen textiles and table linens, this collection uses soft watercolour effects, impressionistic brush strokes and smudged patterns, reflecting the living, breathing landscape of the Mournes.
As for the colour palette, a pared down colour palette of neutral, earthy mineral tones, create a calming aesthetic that reconnects people and place, and makes the perfect addition to any kitchen.
Designer Jennie, who has created beautiful designs for Ulster Weavers for over seven years, explained that the Murlough collection was inspired by childhood visits to the County Down coastline.
She reminisced about eating picnics in the car, and viewing the distorted scenery of the Mourne Mountains, through a sheet of rain or misty car window, and used a watercolour effect to symbolise Northern Ireland’s ever-changing weather.
Now that you’ve heard the inspiration behind the design, it’s time to explore some highlights of our beautiful new collection. When it comes to kitchen textiles, nothing adds soft accents of colour to a country kitchen quite like the exquisite tea-towels, whilst our Cotton Apron will add style to your kitchen as you bake and cook your favourite treats.
As for table linens, we have a selection of placemats, napkins and table runners, all handmade and woven from the finest Irish linen. With soft tones and a textured feel reminiscent of the rugged Mourne Mountains, these table linens create a calming environment, perfect for reconnecting with friends and loved ones over great food.
